I have seen and experienced failures of the bussing inside the fuse panels, most often in the UEC since it is more exposed to elements. It could also be an ignition switch or main harness splice, but many splices are eliminated by the busses and jumpers in the UEC.

Do you have a schematic for the vehicle? If so, test for power on adjacent circuits in the fuse panel. If the shared circuits have power in one section but not others, the ignition switch is probably not at fault.

Common problem on M bodies is corrosion in the firewall/bulkhead harness connectors. The big one located behind the battery. I've by-passed many a wire through that plug on many Astros.

thanks guy. what it turned out to be was the ignition switch. when you go to start and it comes back to run that contact lug was stuck down. took it apart and freed up the lug and works great
