Need new car

I'm a single mother of a 11 year old daughter. I lost my job on March 2015. My only car is a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. I took my car to get it fix again and found out it will cost thousands to get it done. If that will even get the job done. I don't have a car now.
Please help me.
