engine light

I have a 2012 Chrysler 200 limited. The engine light recently came on (steady). The car does seem to hesitate at low speeds. According to the user guide the light will reset itself after approx. 40 cycles. Is there any way that I can reset it and see if it will come on again before the 40 cycles? The user manual states that it will not hurt anything to drive as long as the light remains steady and not flashing. I would like to reset it and if it comes on again, just take it in asap.
