Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015

It seems there will be an F1 (roadcar?) at the Cartier Style et Luxe part of the event.

A section of the site says:


Closer to the modern day is The 200mph Club, for supercars that have passed the once elusive double-ton, including the Ferrari F40, Jaguar XJ220 and McLaren F1. Modern variations on classic favourites will also be found in the Modern Classics section, including Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum’s CMC Mk2 and the E-Type inspired Eagle Speedster.

I will not go to Le Mans because I am considering a new car. This time with private lease via a nice arrangement at my work:)

Wow a production GT!! Never in my life did I think I'd be blessed enough to see one of these!! (Makes up for missing the factory car at Geneva this year)
It would be nice to finally see the factory car displayed in the U.K. and outdoors . Just imagine seeing two GTs together!!!!!!!! MSO are you listening?? :)
I have always thought it odd that it has not been displayed at home, it must be much easier and cheaper to ship the car to somewhere like Goodwood, than it is to ship it to Geneva or New York! (Hint Hint)

Lehto wrote some column in Finnish motorsport magazine - Vauhdin Maailma (which I have scanned stories here before).

Here is his thoughts about Le Mans weekend.
"20 years have passed since the time of Yannick Dalmas and Masanori Sekiya. Victory at Le Mans McLaren F1 GTR car. Time has gone so quickly, all I can say. It was great that we were invited to celebrate the in this year's race in Le Mans. Car, "which seen NOT out of the Woking very often" is extremely rare, was brought to the site of McLaren's Woking Museum. I got to get around the track; audience cheers, it was a great feeling, once and for all! GTR McLaren was incredible car. Not seen every day on the streets. Don't know even if the end of June at Goodwood would go again to drive."

It's amazing to see it in the UK after so long.

Thank you all for posting the Longtail photos. It's the most beautiful F1 for sure with the long sleek look that is has. The LM is "hot," but the GT is "beautiful" if you know what I mean...

My understanding was that they have been storing it for the original owner with some discussions about a potential sale. The market might not yet bear the desired price. That information is about a year old though.

I simply love everthing of that interior. Even the steering wheel is just what I would like even a normal sportscar to have. And the dashboard...oh my. :D

Just back home after my second mega McLaren day of the year.
1st stop was Ascot McLaren to see 04r. A car I never thought I would see. Superb. Staff were great,moving ropes away for photo's & opening up the door to get interior shots. Didn't want to leave, but had to get to Goodwood.
2nd event was another superb car I thought would never see,the GT !
3rd was the red F1 which was another new sighting. Hard to view,with so many people around it all the time!
4th was not realising as I looked at the P1 GTR, I was stood next to JJ Lhetto ! I had a photo,autograph & quick chat. He said about him not driving the 59 car at Le-mans 2015,because of insurance reasons. Not being employed by McLaren ,he could not drive it ! Also he talked about how different the new breed of supercars are to drive,compared to McLaren F1.
What a top guy,so friendly. A true legend for us McLaren fans.
Add to these,talking to Tiff Needell, and seeing Harrods& Fina car again,an you have a top day!
Goodwood delivers again! It is getting mega busy though!

3 new F1's on my list: 028, 58F1GT and 04R at McLaren Ascot:-)

Also sawawesome cars in London: 918 Spyder in black and white, LaFerrari in black, blue F12, matt brown Aventador Roadster, chrome pink Mercedes G and much more

Two tone paint looks good on the GT still have doubts about how it would cope on real english type roads though, maybe MSO can enlighten?

LARK60; good you met JJ. I wish I could do that too but maybe someday in Finland, who knows. I just amazed how well McLaren did this; helmet display and all other things. Very good and I'm very proud to me Finn! :)
