Down Pipes?

Who makes a good down pipe that is 3" and will hook up to an Apexi N1 exhaust system?

Road Race Engineering has a downpipe that bolts right up to the Apex N-1. But its 2.5" to the flex section part of the downpipe and then the rest of the downpipe is 3"

Here's a link. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclexhaust.htm

wouldn't the apex-i 3" downpipe fit onto a n1 exhaust becasue the same company makes both these products??

Yea,but that pipe is a rip off.

why is it a rip off?

Spoken like a hater;)

YES it necks to 2.5, but it works fine. Hell, it flowed enough to give me massive creep with a 16g/34mm flapper :)

what pipes are you guys running?

i am thinking of running a apexi-N1 down pipe and custom 3" exaust after that into a apexi-N1 muffler.

your thoughts???

oh and would this downpipe switch between a t-25 and a 14b???

Im sure you can find cheaper DP's than the Apexi. But it will be fine.

You will definetly see some creep, after installing it though, get ready to port the O2 housing.

Yes it will work on both the T25 and 14B

I'm running a 3" O2 eliminator downpipe, best downpipe u can get  . I have an Apexi exhaust too, but that have nothing to do with the downpipe bolting up though since the downpipe bolts to the catylic converter....................well thats unless you a cat eliminator DP

The RRE pipe is a great option, and it is flanged for the Apexi (they use a slightly different flange). Avoid anything designed to bolt up to a stock converter, that garbage is all less than 2.5" ;) I use the RRE pipe. Avoid the Apexi DP, the flex section is WAY to short. That is why they are famous for breaking there. Shyte, IMO. Looks good otherwise. The flex section is the most expensive single component in a DP, so its no surprise when companies skimp there.

hey thanks for the info i will go and check RRE's DP tomarrow. thanks.

You've got me worried now. I'm going to have to add a flex section check to my weekly leak check :p

hehe, funny how this stuff adds up  I did a 6 bolt swap on a car with an apexi DP, and it was still holding after a year or so. So there is hope, but it's just something to be aware of.

Yo man go w/ the STILLEN dp. it fits like a glove and have a nice tone to it and it also goes w/ ur n1 exhaust. I have a STILLEN downpipe and i love it. ITs also cheap too. i paid 180 for it.http://www.stillen.com/product_images/503320_f.jpg

DP wont affect sound, aside from its size (theyre all 2.5, or 3", and rarely the BR 3.5) That looks like a decent piece though.

what is boost creep? and would replacing my o2 housing completly take care of the boost creep problem? and i like my shit to be loud, so i would like to run an external dump on my waste gate, what would i have to do besides buy a o2 that does this??? thanks

I cant get the www.racingknowledge.org website to work here at work, but I believe there is a sticky about WGs and boost controllers that may also explain creep. The very short version is that its when your WG cant bypass enough exhaust around the turbine wheel to accurately control bost. The result is it will hold set boost until some rpm where it will start to rise on its own and continue doing so until you let off. As an example, my 14b with 2.5" BR turbo back (test pipe) would hold 18 psi to about 5500 rm, then it would rise to 22 psi by 7k.

IF you want to dump your internal to atmosphere, the appropriate O2 hosuing (or mods to your current one) is all you need. But I'll warn you that it sounds like complete shit. The smaller the gate is, the crappier it sounds. I hated it. I love my external gate's sound though. But the cops dont, thats for sure.

lol, yea cops arent a real fan of loud. i love my vehicles to be load but they must sound good to. so you advise against dumping the waste gate of a t-25/14b into the atmosphere?

I do advise against, only because it sounds like absolute ass. And it did nothing for my boost creep either, so it doesnthave much function, even if it lacks form.

what is the performance difference between a regular aftermarket dp and a o2 elminator dp??????? is there any problems after installing the O2 eliminator dp? and where did you get yours fourg63?

FourG63 97GST

mine was custom made

only problem I have with MINE is that i have to use stock(dealership) or small oil filters, since big ones dont clear the downpipe

the difference between a regular downpipe and O2 elimininator, is that eliminator gets rid of the stock housing and flows more

http://www.rnrracing.com/ sells these also

you dont want an external dump on a T25, you'll lose alot of top end power

Well everyone has a lout exhaust somewhere or another. Just think of 3 inch exhaust turbo back with no sound. Get a loud bov(vented) and I/C pipes. sounds like a damn f16 taking off everytime. This is whats keeping me from selling my car. Everyone always asks how much boost you runnning, whats that noise etc. I just love it. But now that I got the paint and body done. Everyone asks what kind of car is that?

i already have a atmospheric dump BOV (Blitz), i am building my exhaust as we speak, i am ordering my DP tomarrow, i still need to get rid of my POS IC piping and get somthing that isn't flat, but all in time. on the IC topic has anyone had any experience with the home made upper IC pipe that VFAQ shows you how to build??? thanks
