It had started to happen some time ago but after one more or a few tries, it would go. I thought is was just freak incidents. BUt this time, no way...or finally ran but then stopped at first red light. I managed to make it run again to return home....
AFter just a few tests, the culprit revealed as the ignition switch itself (43). (It is located down on the steering column www.avigex.ca/xport/steeringcolumn.jpg and acted on by a rod (21)from the ignition key. ) I did not go to the switch itself but noticed it would keep running if I turned the key just a little towards START.

Will see if the switch contacts have actually degraded or if rod has taken some expansion (it has a few bends that might have stretched) and possibly correct ..but in the mean time, I plan to install a temporary "bypass" ignition toggle switch .....
I think having seen this issue on this forum a few years ago

DOne. I peeled off the panels under the steering to seek access to the ignition switch....and concluded my "temporary" parrallel switch would be the permanent fix. I had no plans to dismantle the entire steering column as the ignition switch is well guarded and "naturally" unreachable ....
I have installed a 12V feed direct to the in line fuse (that feeds the IGNITION circuit..spark and fuel pump..). behind the RH headlamp and positioned the new switch near the parking brake release handle.

Everything is OK now.
