Stereo Install

Okay, I should be picking up the sedan tomorrow, and I'm going to throw my old Konig tuners on it. Then, I'm swapping my 6.5" speakers from my hatch to the sedan, and putting in two 10's and 2 amps, along with the Sony Xplod CD player from my girls POS celica...

3 questions...

1.) Will my 6.5's fit right in the stock locations of the EX sedan?

2.) To install the CD player, is there any kind of adapter that I can buy to just plug & play or am I going to have to splice/solder all the wires myself?

3.) Does anyone have a decent wiring diagram for the stock stereo in a 91 LX sedan?

go to best buy or circuit city or something and just buy a 10-15 dollar wiring adapter... all you gotta do is plug the adapter in then terminate the wires to the deck... makes putting the stock deck back in SO much easier..

as far as the speakers... up front i don't think you'll have a problem... but on the rear deck you might... there's only like 2" of clearance between the rear deck and the torsion bars for the trunk lid... you might have to build a spacer...

here's a pic of what i did.. i'll have more pics in like 10 days when i get my digital camera..

mine are 3/4" MDF, so the speaker sits about an inch higher than stock because of the way the stock pods are sunk into the rear deck about a 1/4"...

there is a color chart on the 4g4d site http://4g4d.hopto.org

i think in the front is only 2" of clearence also, but you can rig something up to clear it, i used a bunch of washers on one side so it angles with the door, but i dont know if the 4dr angle like the crx ones do.

anyway, i agree on buying the adapter

for some reason i didn't have problems making my excelons clear up front... i think the sedans have a deeper clearance than people think in the front doors...

Well, I found a wiring diagram in my CRX helms manual... is it likely to be the same color coding for the sedan?
