could my distrubtor cause alot of problems like a jumpy tack and loss of accleration when car isn't warmed up.

Measure the resistance of the coil at the primary and secondary windings... If that checks out, it could be the ignitor...

Also check to make sure that your rotor is secure... they're known to wobble off if they get loose.

Yea thats what it is..your dizzy. My friend's Rex jus did it to him....TOok it to the track one night and it started cutting out and stuff and the tach started jumping...We replaced the rotor and cap and same prob... Put in a new dizzy and problem solved.

so if i wanted to replace the whole thing about how much would it cost and what kinda new one should i get.

i doubt highly that you'll find a new one anywhere, but a dizzy is expensive in the hundreds, try and find one on ebay for 1/4 the price.
