power window problem

I have a 2001 Century, I put the windows down today with no issue. I went to put them up and the back drivers side window didn't go up. I couldn't hear any noise from it, I tried the using both the button on the drivers door and the back door and nothing. I took the motor out thinking that is possibly the problem. After it was out I connected the two plug ins back into it and hit the buttons. The drivers door button did nothing, but the rear door worked for the down position. Is this a bad motor?

I would say no.......

Proper diagnosis would have been, since you had the door panel off, to disconnect the harness to the motor and attach a test light to the harness.....then with key on, using the master switch, press the switch up and down....it should light in both directions......do the same at the rear door switch....should light in both directions(up and down)......

So does the light, light up in both directions from both switches, doesn't light at all, or only lights in one direction? It sounds like it is only lighting in the down position of the switch....

If it lights in only one direction, could be a bad rear switch, master switch, or broken wire(wires tend to break in the wire loom, between the door pillar and the door itself, due to flexing caused by opening/closing doors.....

You can get the window up with a couple jumper wires.......there are 5 in the harness to the rear switch....jumper both dk blue wires together(term B and D).....then with the other jumper attach it to a good ground and touch the brown wire at terminal H....the window should go up(key must be in the "on" position).....

First I tried the drivers side rear switch on the passenger side and it worked up and down. I then tried the regulator/motor on the passenger side and it worked. I put the test light on the blue wire of the motor plug in on the drivers side, it lit up for both the main and rear door switch in the up but not down position. Would a bad main switch cause the rear door switch not to work properly? Or does this sound like a wire? Finding a wire could be a pain

Disconnect your harness to the LR passenger switch......this will test the master switch and the wires to it....

Attach your test light to the green and purple wires...key on, from the master switch, press the up and down buttons to the lr door.....if it lights in BOTH directions, your master switch and wiring to it is ok.....then your problem is the lr passenger switch....

If it doesn't, attach test light to ground and probe green wire...when you press switch up at master, should light.....now probe purple wire.....press switch down at master, should light.....now probe blue wire(1307) to switch(not to motor), should light......now attach test light blue wire(1307), and probe green wire and purple wire....each should light when tested....if they both light, that means the wires to the master switch are good.....

So if the last test was ok, but in the first two tests, the switch only lit wen going up, and not down, then it's the master....

After I posted last reply I realized that I didn't test both sides of the plug. When I retested it lit up for rear switch up and down, but the main switch in only the up position. This makes me think the main switch is bad, so I am going to get a new one.
