How to reach the first oxygen sensor?

I need to replace the first ixygen sensor, which is located on exhaust manifold behind the engine. But how to reach it? I've tried both from below and from above with the engine rotated as much forward as was possible but no luck. The only way I see possible to make enough space is to remove the ignition coil, but I don't want to take that step without knowing it is right thing to do.

I've searched the net without finding any clues on how to reach it.

The solution was to remove the ignition coil, then there was ok space to reach the lambda. On an AWD it isn't possible to rotate the engine much.

On my 02 Silhouette (same everything except trim/body features) non AWD I first dropped the windshield washer reservoir, then took the complete windshield wiper system out. Dropped the alternator to the side a bit, removed the coil packs and rotated the engine a couple inches forward... viola now I could remove and replace the upstream o2 sensor !

Approx.. 3 hrs.

Cheers
Wayne.
