Yes, I'm curious on this as well. I've got this one to do and am trying to decide between decals vs. mask/paint.

Thank you friends , I used the decals but was required some re-painting after sanding , we used the same blue indicated in the model 83 , that is the X4 tamiya , the red I used the Bright Red .

Your usual really clean work Sandro
Nice detail touches - not every bike needs to be full detail
Beautiful glossy clear -
I've seen the real "comcast" wheels - yours - look pretty good but the nuts should be "black" - but then harder to see them

In all the photo's I've ever seen the nuts were a bare metal finish!

Great looking models and I just love those machined throttle cable adjusters! :)

cingster - wouldn't bare-metal nuts and bolts oxidize against the wheel since they would be dis-similar metals?? The ones I've seen look to have some kind of "black" plated coating on them - almost like anodizing but for steel.

John, I'm assuming the wheel centres and rims are either aluminium or magnesium (or a combination of both) and they have a powdercoat/paint finish. Any metal used for the nuts and bolts will be of a higher nobility, (as far as galvanic corrosion is concerned) eg. alu will corrode more readily than titanium, or stainless steel. Any galvanic corrosion will occur in the less noble centres and rims. The powder coat will form a barrier against this happening and knowing Honda they will also use a sealant around the bolts. Lotus did this on any steel fittings on their alu Elise chassis.

Sorry to sound a bit geeky on this, but I'm a metals conservator! :grinyes:

cingster - the wheels are not "powder coated" they had a anodizing finish to them - I'm not sure powder coating was even available then - the wheels had a dark black/violet finish - not sure whether they were Aluminum or Magnesium - I didn't get the opportunity to ask or pick one up

Thanks for the explanations friends, but I also had references with metal screws.
