2006 Towncar 5 Chimes

I was driving my Towncar and I've noticed that it chimes 5 times then pauses. Then it does it again. I don't notice any warning lights on my dash board. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so does anyone know what it could be.

That's the Airbag system.. if you don't see an airbag light during your key on process.. it could be just the system saying the light is burnt out, so IF that's true.. 1st thing to do is replace that lamp.

It quit chiming on it's own. It happened when it got super cold like -10 degrees. Another brutal Pittsburgh winter.:smile:

Look very soon for it to start chiming again. It is the pretensioner on one of the five seat belts in your towncar drying out and going bad. When it starts again to to a trusted mechanic and have him put a test on the airbag system to tell you which seat belt, that's the only way to tell which one is bad. That pretensioner will have to be replaced. Don't go to a dealer, they will tell you it is illegal to repair it. Come back here if it comes to getting it fixed.
