Hello to all
I am trying to assist my niece who lives in Florida with her Malibu no start issue.
It cranks, but will not start until she presses the gas pedal to floor. When it does start, it is a very low Idle but smooth. as soon as she lifts the gas, the car dies. Kinda like ran out of gas.
Any an All Help is greatly Appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Blessings

No quick fix here, should be scanned for code pending or live.

Have someone crank car while someone else sprays carb cleaner into the throttle body......if car starts and runs as long as you spray, then you have a fuel delivery problem.....
If it doesn't check fuel pressure with a gage...cycle key several times(waiting 10 seconds between cycles), to obtain max pressure...should get a min of 40 psi....if you do, does it hold? or does it drop? If it drops pull the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator and check for gas,,,,if there then you need a new f/p reg....if not, then a possible bad injector or check valve in the fuel pump....you don't smell gas, so I don't think it is an external leak...
If it holds, and you have 40psi, could be an injector problem, or a SECURITY problem disabling the injectors.....
If you scan the vehicle, you need a scanner capable of reading "B" codes....the security code you will be looking for is B2958 or B2960....

I once had an issue with my 98 Bu where the Idle Air Speed control went bad and it would only start if I gave it gas while cranking. Good luck with the repair.
