I have a 98 camry 4 cylinder and only on cold mornings after engine starts, right then I hear a one time hump or a poot like noise near the belt area /passenger side.
I've changed out the powersteering fluid but still does it..never does it when warm or again after driving, only on cold mornings.
Any idea what it is?..I'm not worried just curious.
Thanks

See if your belts tensions are correct. Might be a belt noise.

Ill check again but im sure alt belt is good and tight/new..need to recheck power steering belt but it doesnt make a noise when turning wheel to far ends at all..
Only get a cold start 1/2 second HUMP. noise immediately after start up..never again when engine is warm or if temp is above 40 or 45 at 1st start.
years ago i used the thicker lucas power steering additive in it so not sure if that thickness is a factor f any is still left in line.
But it may not be power steering at all.~.im stumped:eek7: I know its not major but is irritating.
