Cost of Ball Joint Repairs?

2001 Jeep Wrangler. Mechanic quoted $1,000.00 for "leaking" Ball Joint replacement. Is this correct, or just "fishing" for dollars.

Mike, this does seem rather high.. and just like seeking a second opinion about medical issues, the jeep service needs to be done as well.. I found with my Mech.. Our jeep may need new Ball joints in the near future.. He's charging us $75 per hour (labor) and $200 for a set of Moog greasable ball joints.. The whole installation will take approx 4 hours to complete.
