97/98 skylark service service manual (and horn relay)

there is a '98 skylark factory service manual available on ebay
i was wondering if there were any changes between 97-98

i have the '97 factory manual and the intro said it is a transitory manual
"...formats...will not be consistent..." but that probably just pertains to the manual layout.

someone had mentioned that engines could change mid-production and i was wondering if my vehicle could be more along what was finally the '98 (and final) version.

also

anyone know where the horn relay is?
apparently it is under the dash/drivers side on the convenience center.
i removed the sound insulator but i am not seeing it.

They had what were known as "preliminary" volumes...cover was all white.....that meant the finalized volume had not come out ......but I don't recall any major changes between a 97 and 98....the M motor had been out for a few years.....

As for the IN-Convenience Center, not really sure where it is, but my guess would be driver's side, under dash, but upwards and towards the back of the dash and also towards the outside(driver's side)......you should see/feel a block......the relay and turn signal flasher are installed from the top, I think, making it a little awkward.....

yeah when i removed the sound insulator and on my back i am 'facing' towards the rear of the car. and i had not seen anything large enough to hold more than one relay which apparently the 'convenience center' does.
maybe i should be looking forward.
i can hear the click so just have to look some more.
it may be easier to also remove the lower left trim pad.

Manuals
i missed the pages in the beginning that gave some examples of the old style vs new style. looks like nothing i need to worry about.

actually i am lucky to also have the parts catalog on microfiche which helped immensely when i was trying to figure out the parts/locations of the purge system. a lot more clear than the manuals. like in sci-fi movies the diagrams are 'exploded' so it is very clear where everything is. haven't had a chance to get to the only library branch that has a reader.

well i got to the library to look at the micro-fiche parts catalog.
that shows the horn relay under the hood, against the firewall
definitely not where it is
the cruise control box is there
