This unit has gone on me twice so it looks like a cronic problem. I live in Ontario, Canada, where we are" "emission tested". My car failed because of this. I
ve been told by many mechanics that this unit is a waste and is really not necessary. The car has performed well while it's disconnected. However...I
need to be able to pass the test, showing "no error codes".

Any suggestions on how to bypass the codes or reconfigure the computer or???

You don't give the year, or the code, but there have been a few TSB's about this problem......replacing the fresh air inlet hose and replacing the pump, especially if water is found inside it......

Without a pump, it will set a code....the vehicle will run a test to see if O2 is pumped into the exhaust, and if it doesn't detect it, it sets the code....

Sorry about the clarity. It's an '02 GLS Intrigue. Your recommendations are informative. Thank you.

As Tech II stated, the usual problem is that water gets trapped in the pump, it freezes and ruins the pump.

Thanks. I'll get a new pump & hoses installed. The previous 2 times I don't believe that the hose was replaced, just the pump.

I am well aware of this problem. I had to figure it out myself after my shop kept replacing the pump and vacuum switch that activates the 2 main solenoids. These solenoids are opened at start up to take the air from the pump and inject into the exhaust manifold. The water in the system comes from a defective solenoid( broken diaphragm). I replaced the drivers side one from Rock auto and it was great for a couple years until the passenger side went. Tricky expensive job but still saved a bundle once I found the problem. The pump will kick in continuously and the lights will dim when problems start.

If there is water in the pump one of the manifold solenoids is leaky. Do a vacuum test on each one.
