I can't seem to find any 1/24 scale "17 inch" Enkei RPF1 wheels. SUPER common wheel IRL but I can't seem to find a set made by Aoshima or anyone... :(

HELP!!

yay!! I'm interested. Is there any way you could scale them to 17" rims? Also, where would I find proper sized tires to fit with these? (if you were to do 17s)

Thanks

How wide of a rim IRL would this make it? Not diameter of the wheel, but width of the tire surface?

For example, mine IRL are 17" diameter, 9" wide, and +45 offset (doesn't really matter in this case)

Also, are you sure these are scaled correctly?

It shows 1.709" W and H.
17 divided by 24 is 0.71.

In the same aspect, it shows .42" as the width, which would be a 10" wide wheel.

Sorry, I just want to make sure I know exactly what I'm ordering.

No , problem but that is the size of the complete pack in IN and each rim sizes are in cm are inches:
(in) 0.802w x 0.42d x 0.802h
(cm) 2.038w x 1.068d x 2.038h
but htey have a small lip on the front so the diameter of the rim will be of 2cm .
If you have any specific size in CM sent me and i will modify the size of the rim

OHH!! ok. That makes sense.

and sorry, but I'm not very good at scratchbuilt conversions yet. Whatever diameter would set the wheels at about 8-9" wide would work. Mine are 9" wide on my car. I'm still trying to find tires to fit them.

Thanks

This ones i think that they are 10" wide(i also havetrouble with the conversions and i normally workonly with cm),i can make them 9" wide

They came in and look great!!

Thanks for everything.

One question though, when I went to paint them, the texture is slightly more rough than I anticipated... How would you recommend lightly sanding them (being multilayered and really tiny spokes)?

Thanks

I normally sand it with very fine sandpaper or an all sandpaper and doing it very relax because they are very tiny parts .
I´m glad that they arrived well

Shoot... I was test fitting tires and pressed too hard and snapped one of the wheels. Is there any way to order another pair or individually?

edit: wrong information

If he will print out 5 wheels to make it worth his time, I will take a set and he can send you the 5th.

He broke 1 wheel and only needs one, but may not be worth your time to only make one. If you make 5, I will take a set of 4, and you send one to him

So 1 wheel to Wolf95 and 4 wheels to me. Probably better to make more if taking the time to set up the machine, no?

I use a sandblaster to clean mine then use filler primer.

Just make it 6. I could use an extra extra spare, just in case. That works for me and makes more sense. If I had to, I would just pick up a whole set. But if we can make this work, that would be awesome.

So would hemi killer then buy the kit then send me just the two? Or how would we split that up. Looks like it's about 5 dollars per wheel, plus shipping.

The texture is a result of the printing process. It is pretty much unavoidable, but the prep should be minimal. What kind of primer did you use?

I didnt use primer on these in hopes it wouldn't fill in the lug holes and look puddled. I sprayed them a while back with no prep done (stupid mistake), but went back over them all with wet 1500 and came up with something BETTER... but still not the finish I'm looking for..

Here are the rpfs after 2 attempts to spray them. Compared to the Mugen MF10s the kit comes with that I sprayed with a similar silver.

Had to replace one after breaking out the whole face of an old one.. and a spoke snapped on this one while trying to wetsand. >_< Super brittle.

They look sweet! It seems like it'd be worth it to just use the 3d print as a master for some resin casts, to make it easier to work with and paint.

Hemi Killer

what about using filler primer or something, then lightly sanding that smooth

NOMADGAMER
09-03-2015, 06:33 PM
+1, you need some self leveling primer.

Wolf95
09-03-2015, 09:23 PM
I agree with that. Like I was saying, I was trying to lay just light layers of silver to avoid puddling in the center and making the lug nuts disappear.

I´m sorry about that defect, i´m working on that to not happening again.I also have broken by now 4 sets, because i´m measuring the size to don´t broke them.
I´m changing the size to different model i have like the MB and this ones.
This picture is of the last set with the fatlace rim after priming them.

Why like making my wheels with a 1mm spoke minimum

Wolf95
09-21-2015, 10:21 AM
I think just for handling purposes, these should be remade with slightly deeper spokes so it doesn't throw off the looks THAT much, but will hold up against sanding/handling.

I finished this new version of the RPF1 rim and now is 0.6mm depper than the previous version.I will finish the packs and i will upload it again.

Well, i tried to smooth with fine sandpaper but you have to be very patient. I am going to try with the next packs that are arriving to smooth them with acetone but i´m not very sure if is gonna work because i only have seen used on ABS.
