Transmission Swap, Is this possble??

I came across this on the internet...

They took a 3.0L Duratec..... swapped it into a Miata, and mated it to a RX7 TT Transmission.... would it be posible, to take a auto trans from a RX7... and mate it to the tec in the Taurus??

anyone ever think of doing this?

Unless you turn the Taurus into rear drive...that would be impossible.
hmm, that would actually be pretty cool, a rear drive Taurus.

what about swapping in the transmission from a same year SHO??

Afew years ago, there was an outfit in Cali that was producing "Monster" Miata's.

They'd take brand new Miata's, drop a 5.0 in it, give it a firmer suspenstion and alittle more height. Custom leather seats (with their logo), and afew other goodies.

It was fairly low to the ground and rolled on 17's.

the mtx-75 5 speed trans from a contour will bolt up, as the contour crowd including myself have taken the 3.0L duratec from the taurus and swapped blocks. however if you plan on doing the opposite and keeping the engine and swapping trans, its a bit more complicated as youll be needing custom axles, sub frame, mounts, shifter, pedals, etc. KA-CHING!$$$
