So, my old sub died(cone froze) and picked up a new kicker 40CRW122. I thought my amp had enough power but turns out its being way underpowered. Needless to day its time to upgrade. All these sites online have brands Ive never heard of and I dont trust half of the power ratings. I thought I was looking for an 800x1 at either 1 ohm or 4 ohm but now i've been told I can run more power to it? Can anyone help me out? Missing the flex.

are you mostly just booming with the sub or actually listening to music ? What do you normally listen to ?

I listen to music mostly but do like to occasionally show off as I built my box and have a trunk and still hit high 120s currently. I don't have a certain type of music either. Anything but silence is good.

If you are playing real music, you can put substantially more power to a speaker. If it's mostly bass related music, try and stick closer to speaker RMS ratings.
A trunk is a LOT harder to get loud, have you tried facing the sub to the back ?
