I have been into model cars since I was about 7 or 8, and I am just getting serious. I always wanted to make body kits and things like
that but I had no idea how to do it. I found AF when looking at some
1:1 cars, and found the modeling section. Well, anyway,What are
some good places to buy cheap kits and supplies. Actually,I want
to know who has cheap prices on good kits. I am on a VERY TIGHT budget. I'm talking a MAX of $25 (USD) a month, except this month when I have about $40. This month I want to buy some supplies then a kit next month. any tips would be great. Thx in advance.

Welcome to the madness! Try hitting the FAQ (link in my sig.) for a good listing of needed supplies.

Be sure and set realistic goals for your first few kits. Looking at some of the finished kits on here will leave you feeling pretty inadequate otherwise! As for a kit, follow you instincts, buy/build what YOU truly like.

Check your local Wal-Mart, they carry Mostly Revell and AMT, usually for under 12 bucks, they also have plenty of supplies for modeling.

Welcome to Af's Modeling Section!!:)

Revell and AMT are a good budget model right now since they're coming out with a lot of these fast and furious and tuner-series models.

An idea of what you'd spend:

Revell Tuner-Series Civic - $13
Can of Duplicolor - $3
Can of Primer - $4

And I assume you have brushes and a general array of paints already. Plus the primer you buy once and will buy again after 3-4 models. So your first buy is a simple 16-17 bucks, and any after that can be at max $18 for a amt/revell model and a single can of duplicolor. :bigthumb:

Thx guys. Yes, I have do have a pretty good variety of brushes. I use Plaid brushes since I can get them at my local 99 cent store and they seem like pretty good quality (no shedding and minimal brush lines). I just lowered my Diecast Viper GTS-R. Its my 1st modification other than a lift kit on a Snap-Tite Hummer. If anyone has the white Viper GTS-R (not sure of manufacturer) that came with blue racing stripe decals, I know how to lower it. Also, are parts from the Revell Civic and ITR interchangeable? I'm pretty sure they would be.

A lot of the parts are interchangeable.
