Greetings:
I think I may have 2 separate issues, may be linked however.
1. The battery light stays on. Previous owner has put on 4 alternators. There is a new battery on the van now. Battery light still on.
2. Overheating when idle. fan motor not kicking in at idle.
Could there be a wiring issue that is causing all of this?

1. battery light stays on....check voltage at battery.....
Test should be done on a fully charged battery....
key on, engine off, 12.6 volts
engine running, cold, around 14 volts
engine running warm, around 13 volts....
Warm engine, turn on lights and blower on high, voltage may drop towards 12....rev engine to 2000, should go to 13 volts.....
If it doesn't do this, you either have an alternator or alternator circuit problem....
2. How is the coolant level? Check reservoir AND radiator level on a cold engine.......turn your A/C on to see if your coolant fans come on....
