Well it's over, the last 14 years was a good run Canada, virginia, kentucky, florida, etc..brought my son home when he was born on 4/26/2000. You guys know the story. I was able to get at least 125,000 miles out of my Venture but in the end enough was enough. The attached story was where I have had it. Dropped $2,000 only to continue having issues. so I drove it straight to the crusher got $500 for her and watched them drive that strong motor and good interior to her demise. I just didn't have the patience to deal with guys like the one who told me he'd give me $800 and then told me he needed time. I settled on the $500 the scrap yard gave me pawned some jewelry and went to the car dealer. In Jan 2014 I drove out of the dealer with a 2014 Ford Edge FWD. No more problems, no more late for work, no more being stranded. What I do have unfortunatly is a $450 note to pay each month. But hey, I'm not hurting to bad and I have my piece of mind, oh, I also have 22+ miles per gallon. Take care guys...Adventure out........

Hi!
Unfortunately - people grow old, and machines are also aging
Good luck to you!

My 2002 Olds Silhouette is about to roll over 300 000 km and still going strong! No engine or transmission issues. Don't burn a drop of oil between oil changes, smooth shifting tranny, nice driver.. A little rust on the rockers (I fiberglassed them). So far I've replaced alternator, shocks/strutts and muffler everything else is original.

The truck I drive at work is a 2013 dodge grand caravan.. My Olds is more comfortable and nicer to drive than a brand new dodge !? It's like the difference between a cadillac and a station wagon IMO.

Before that I drove a 1998 Trans Sport (same as Montana) for 8 years that basically rusted away around a rock solid drive train. What nice driver this one was also.

Gonna miss my GM vans.. thinking about getting a buick next time..

Cheers
Wayne.

That's a shame. Not sure what past issues brought this on, but I can pretty much guess. I've almost 300k miles on my 99 Silhouette, but the rust weevils are starting to take their toll. I replaced the engine at 120k miles and the tranny at 160k miles. I had to weld numerous patches and spots around the back wheel wells and I've had to replace the radiator (side popped loose) and the ac compressor (just started knocking). Through all those issues, I've learned how to pretty much fix anything that happens and enjoyed the most comfortable ride I've ever owned. I get 19-20 around town and 25-28 mpg on the highway.
Recently I purchased a 2001 Silhouette that has a virgin rustfree body and a blown tranny. I'm swapping the subframes out and planning on another 14 years of comfort.
