there is no proof to back up that statement. for all you know, he could have been a shitty driver. he could have missed a gear, he could have done any number of other things that would have made him lose. i don't hate autos, but i just think you don't have the proper evidence to make such a claim so quickly.

Hey good I'm all for auto's beating manuals and vice versa. Sometimes I wish I had a mod in my car where you can switch it to auto from manual and vice versa on the fly because Im lazy.

yea, that's where i really do like the new gtp's with the power auto shift thing. i like those... that's the closest you can get to it.

i was just raising a point.... my next car, if it's setup for speed, will definately be a stick. i knew absolutely nothing about my car when i bought it, so now im stuck with it for as long as i have it (or as long as the auto tranny holds up :wink: )

but most of you think autos are def not for racing, when in dragging autos are all they use. manuals can give you good speed, but its all up to the driver and what kind of setup he wants. autos can be very very fast.

i have thought about upgrading the torque convertor and ecu, but then again i dont want to put any more money into the car.

Automatics can be faster than sticks. A manual transmission simply offers more control over the vehicle, which is why enthusiasts choose it.

i have nothing against autos, but if 2 cars, one with auto one with stick, with the exact same mods, were to race, chances are the stick would come out barely on top...

chances are, yes. but that's not always the case. you can never have a car one auto and one manual with the exact same mods. some mods can only be done to manual, and vice versa.

actually if you took two drag cars, both completely modded to the full extent, one manual and one auto, chances are auto will win, because of the more consistent time. the stick driver would have to drive it exactly perfect.

control wise yes a manual is prolly better. i guess its own personal preference.

on a street course, like around a track, a manual will probably dominate. and of course drag cars modded to the full extent will do better with an auto, but i'm talking street cars with a few small mods done to them. most times if you look at 0-60 times for the same factory stock car, the times for the manual version will be faster then the times for the auto version.

with my first post i was talking drag racing though, not on a race course. straight line.....

but manuals are lighter... so the manual will win if you know how to drive.

you'd have to shift perfect.... it would never happen.

if you're going that fast you wont be able to shift fast enough. you'd have to be like a freakin yoda in racing.

can't shift perfect with a manual? maybe not every time but its doable, people do it all the time, autos are more consistant though

If 2 cars were modded the same and one were auto, and the other was Stick the stick would win by a large margin espcially if they both had big drag slicks...

Auto = Cant drop at High RPM Stick = Can drop at High RPM

You mean the Ikeya formula seq. shifter right?
That's just a shifter that bolts on to your tranny and does all kinds of voodoo to shift like a sequential.You still have to use the clutch though:frown:

A REAL seq. tranny you dont use the clutch to shift.just tap the stick up or down.They also cost more then teh complete rb26 swap into a 240:bloated:

isnt what they have on those funny alcohol cars? i was just watching that today. my dad said there's no clutch in those cars.

i would personally love an Ikeya Sport shifter. i would actually hate to drive manual without a clutch, it just wouldn't feel right.

the sequential's you're talking about are like those on F1 cars, except with a shifter instead of paddles. no clutches on those either.

too bad you can't do an SMG tranny swap. i got the chance to ride a Z4 SMG last week. while it still felt slow on the up shift compared to my stick the down shifting was amazing. it did every bit of heal toe for me.

I can see where an auto might beat a stick, but thats gota be a manual driver that dont know how to launch!! Drop it at the right RPM and the stick will be a heads up in front of any auto, keep it at the 6k's and shift every time dont miss and your GONE!! And whats the point of Draging if its not you thats raceing but the slush box instead...:confused: takes no skill to race an auto just floor it and there you go... sounds like fun to me...:sly: Not bashing any autos cause my auto MAX will eat up anyone alive!!
