I need fuse designation and amps for cigar lighter. I did an internet search and got F2 25 and 2 Amps. The 2 amp fuse was blown but 2 Amps is not right for cigar lighter.
I have the 2004 ford factory electrical manual and it shows F25 to be 20 amps which is the correct amps for a cigar lighter.
Can anyone give me the correct designation and amp rating from the 2002 Taurus factory manual. I don't want to put a 20 amp fuse in a 2 amp circuit.
TIA

Did you check the owner's manual?
You can download a PDF of the manual from here. (http://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owner-manuals/)
It looks like you're either looking for the chart on page 161 (Power point, 20A) or page 164 (Cigar lighter, 20A).

I see you report this post when you actually just wanted to reply to the post. The "report post" feature is to be used to report spam or offensive posts.
Here's what you intended to reply with:
"I have the factory maintenance manual but the fuse data is in the electrical manual. I have the 2004 factory electrical manual and not the 2002 manual. I got a 2002 taurus fuse diagram off the internet which conflicts with the 2004 factory manual.
I guess I need to find someone who has a 2002 taurus and check
what fuse amp rating is installed."
And here's the information from the Ford factory service manual, also for a 2002 Taurus. You can see it too matches the information in the owner's manual. You're looking for fuse 18 in the Battery Junction Box for the cigar lighter and fuse 13 in the Central Junction Box for the accessory port. This exactly agrees with the mapping in the owner's manual for the 2002 Taurus that I linked to in my prior post.

Thanks Sherod, I checked this fuse out and it checked good. I also checked the other fuses in this fuse box and they are all good. I will check all the fuses under the dash and if they are good I guess I will start tracing the wiring.

Have you checked with a meter or test light at the cigar lighter socket to confirm whether or not power is actually there? Maybe the accessory you are plugging in to is is bad, has a blown fuse, or is not making a good connection.
