A non qualified Brabham...

Hi
I have finally finished a model! There is a very strong possibility that this one is the only one of its kind in 1:12 scale... There is not normally a strong urge to dedicate a lot of effort into building a racecar of a paydriver in a rented racecar in one race where he didn't qualify! There is a AMD kit in existence of the very same car in 1:20, but I know of no 1:12 car in existence anywhere - before now!
May I present the RAM Racing Brabham BT-44B of Jac Nelleman (danish driver - so that is why...!) who didn't manage to qualify at the Swedish Grand Prix in 1976. He actually drove at least two different cars - on BT42 and one BT44. The 'easiest' way is to convert the 1:12 Tamiya Brabham BT-44 into a 1976 version.
For that the most visual change is the airbox that was cut down from kit parts and modiefied with plastic card and filler. Several tedious finishing sessions later it was ready for paint. The nose grew some winglets and the rear wing was moved 10mm forward to meet the 1976 regulations(ish) It was difficult to find reliable data on this so it was eyeball mark one.
For the intakes and camcovers the exellent MFH set was used as well as a set of seatbelts. The hardware is my own stuff in white metal.
Oh decals... I used the available decals from the 1:20 kit... But upscaling something is not the way to do it, so every decal was painstakingly designed in Corel Draw - character by character. It IS a lot of work. Colours were eyeballed from few available photos. Blue stripimg was cut out from coloured decal sheets.
Paint is plain TS-26 with Gunze to seal the decals and a little spit and polish.
Fittingly the model is present this weekend at the Swedish Championship in Gothenburg and believe it or not it CAN be fully assembled!

You definately don't get the love over here at AF that you do at F1M for this type of build. Nice work Flemming. It looks great. Would like to see pictures of it all put together to show off the airbox.
