it would be cool if subaru built a truck because their engines can take a lot of stress and they could make a nice work truck.

The closest Subaru have come to building trucks is the Brat and the Baja, neither of which are true trucks in the American sense but both fairly functional.

On the other hand, I believe if you go to www.fhi.co.jp you would be surprised at what comes under the umbrella which covers Subaru.

Fuji Heavy Industries have fingers in many pies, they are also in the aerospace industry, as well as building generators and trucks.

And they build ships. Usually cargo or oil tankers.

Indeed.........:bigthumb:

Although I must admit , I'm not real impressed with the new STi. Nice interior , though. But the body and the general style is just yuck...... Most of the WRX owners I know have no intentions of getting an STi , they'd rather build up their current car
I like the old ('01) style WRX body better myself , the new 2004 style looks too Honda-ish for my taste....headlights remind me of an RSX:bloated:

I hear you on the new look thing, I like it on the rally car, but am still undecided on the street car. Looks kinda like the new Corolla too:bloated:

And at 300 ( ) pounds heavier than the last WRX , even with 300 Hp , its sliding fast towards the bottom of my list of cars to get. Not to mention the detonation problems listed in depth at the NASIOC website. Detonation on 94 octane gas isn't good...... And the guys at Easy-Street , home of the worlds fastest WRX , also have no intention of using the STi any time soon. Got some pics of that car , from a Scoob meet yesterday , that I may post soon.....:bigthumb:

The thing is Subaru will have to make one to be able to compete with Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan...etc.... I'm not so sure if they have the experience to make one to compete with the large trucks. There's something about Subaru making a high powered Twin turbo H6 that's pretty strong. But what they need is really a strong engine first. I'm sure the H6 will do well but it just doesn't have what larger displacement motors have, torque. Although Some of subaru's engine have them we're talkin about over 300lb ft of tq at about 3000RPMs. Lowend is nessesary for trucks because most are bought to tow and carry payload.

With the AWD tech that Subaru has, I'm sure they can think of something, but they can't really have a H8 hanging over the front axles......hheheh:bloated:

Eh? why not? That would be the shiznit , a small block H8  Prolly about 5.0 liters or a touch smaller. Using twin small turbo's like T-25's , or maybe even supercharged:bigthumb:
