MAF sensor circuit A low

Hi all, I have a '98 GTP with about 82K miles. I have the MAF sensor too low code. I put a scanner on it and it shows a signal that varies, but I guess it is too low. I've replaced that MAF and same thing. The light does go out every now and then. My question is the MAP sensor signal. Is this supposed to remain fairly constant, or does it vary with engine RPM. I'm seeing it vary. I've read that it can confuse the computer into thinking there should be more air flowing in if the pressure is higher, or something like that. Thanks for any help...

Map is based on vacuum....when you vary rpm's, the vac varies....
Since you changed the MAF, and you have the same problem, you are going to have to check the wiring between the MAF sensor and the PCM.....a bad wire can cause an intermittent condition....for example, if the wire is broken inside the insulation, you could possibly lose continuity as the harness flexes with engine movement......
You have checked for vac leaks?

I have checked for vacuum leaks and have fixed some questionable vacuum hoses. I sprayed carb cleaner around the intact in all the places I thought would be good places to spray. I also get the Bank1 too lean code. I used to get the Bank 1 too lean code by itself, and was going to change the O2 sensor, but I read online that it is probably not the O2 sensor. So I went and checked for codes again and had two, the second one being the MAF circuit too low. So, over the weekend, I opened up the wire bundle that contains the MAF signal to the ECM, disconnected the connector on the ECM, and buzzed the connection to see if I could identify an intermittent condition. I couldn't. I am leaning back to the O2 sensor now. I do have a new one. I must get this fixed by the end of September because I have to pass emissions by then.

I went back under the hood on this thing and sprayed some more carb cleaner and now think I have an intake manifold gasket leak. I also have been noticing a pooling of fluid between the valve cover and the intake along the front of the engine. I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to do the intake gasket. Bummer!

I redid my intake manifold gasket last weekend. It seems to have fixed the problem. It took me 6 hours to do. I have a supercharger.

Good job...you figured it out yourself....
