Do I really need special tool front hub nut wrench J–36827?

1999 Isuzu Rodeo LS, 2WD, 3.2L V6, M/T.

Thanks,
Mark

Yes, or something that approximates it. I had to get a "car smart" friend to help me remove my hub assembly to replace the front rotors on my 2001 rodeo. I think we borrowed a tool from a parts store or something. Stupid design...

Yeah, seems it's best to have the tool.

I've seen a few vids where people were able to get the hub nut off using other tools, which I could definitely do as well, but when reinstalling it and setting it correctly concerning the pounds of force required to move the tire, I want to be sure that the force is evenly applied to the bearing.

Thanks.

When you got your new rotors, did they come with the center hub assembly or did you have to get the center hub from the old one pressed into the new one? So far, it appears that places like Autozone only have the rotors without the center assembly.

Thanks. Your info very much appreciated.

OK. I have the hub nut tool.

They run the gamut in price. Ordered it for around $50.00 on a few sites only to have the order cancelled due to non-availability.

A local tool guy found it but wanted $140.00

I got it from a specialty tool site for $40.00.

I'm ready to do the bearings now.

Do I need any special tools to get them out of the wheel or to press them back in with?

I see that the manual lists a few more "special tools" but I'm not sure they're really necessary.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Mark
