Locking mechanism in door stuck?

While I was replacing the door handle I had to push down the internal locking assembly that when the door is closed actually turns/slides down over the square "ring" in the door frame of the car.
Somehow when fiddling in there this piece got stuck in the "down" position?
I can't get it to go back up so when I go to shut the door it just bounces off the door frame. Derp. Really shitty as the door is forced to remain open for the time being.
Anyone have any experience with this? Cheers and thanks a lot

That's an easy one. Just take a screwdriver and hook into the closed latch and pull away from the door,( towards the interior of the car),while operating the outter handle. That should make it pop open.

Ahh that worked. Actually it was the internal handle not the outer one. Funny enough now I'm locked out of my car 'cuz somehow the outer handle isn't operating anything anymore on either side. Which doesn't make sense all the components are rightfully attached.
