Hello all,

I've been thinking for a while of buying a late for model work, problem is I can't seem to find lot of them available in canada at a reasonnable price, so far, the only one would be this one:

http://www.busybeetools.com/products/LATHE-MINI-7IN.-X12IN.-1%7B47%7D2HP-CX-SERIES-CSA.html

I know Harbor Freight as one for like 500$ but it's in the USA and they won't ship it because of weight and dimension. I considered getting there and getting it myself butthe closest store is like a 4h30 one way....

Any comment on the lathe I found or idea where i could find one in eastern Canada would be really appreciated...

Thanks

I was happy to cancel my order for a lathe like this. I now own a Sherline and ... even if it is more expensive, it is worth every single cent!

I don't have experience with the lathe you mentioned in the link, but I know they are Chinese made and their quality is variable.

There are a lot of similar topics on dedicated machining forums and I would suggest you take your time to study the available choices. I know I spent more than a year pondering on the alternatives and finally decided on the Sherline. It is American made and of very high quality and precision.

In any case, prepare to invest more than double the lathe cost in accessories, tools and materials.
