I have a 2006 montana and need to replace the egr valve, the one I purchased the electrical connector does not match up with the one already installed in the van, my question is do I need to install a new connector to match the new egr valve?
Thanks

i would try to find the correct one with the right plug, might be other differences too you can't see or it may not work right

It is the right one, according to where I bought it and also online.

trace the egr plug wires back and make sure they haven't spliced a different end on. otherwise you have a year older or newer car or the catalogs are wrong

Did the old one have the plug on the top and the new has the plug on the side? If so, there is a kit that you need, changes the egr, egr pipe, gasket and connector. GM part # is 89018174. The PCM will also need to be reprogramed to recognize the new style EGR valve.

GmTech1....didn't they have a TSB for the change? Something about possible fluid freeze up inEGR causing a false pintle reading?
I think the original EGR, the connection came out of the top, and that was a Delphi.....the replacement was a Siemens, and the connector came out of the side...you had to replace the harness and pipe assembly and reprogram like GMTech1 said....
So if the old one comes out the side, and your replacement comes out the top, and your harness has butt connectors in them(indicating the harness was already replaced), you got the wrong EGR....you have to get the Siemens replacement, where the connector comes out the side........
