I've noticed while in the market for performance brake discs for my car that, some of the brakes are for vtec models and the others are for the s models, i was wondering if anyone could explain to me why the size of my engine matters when choosing brakes, the only reason this bothers me is b/c atm i have a 1.5l s model engine but i have plans of replacing it with a dohc vtec engine and dont wish to purchase new brakes twice.

Often when the manufacturers upgrade motors, they also upgrade brakes by going to bigger rotors. For example for a 94 Del Sol the VTEC uses rotors of the following specs:
DIAMETER: 10.3"/262MM MIN THICK: 19.0MM
while the 94 Del Sol S uses rotors of the following specs:
DIAMETER: 9.4"/240MM MIN THICK: 18.0MM
