i know what the Cisco Certified Networking Program is all about, im studying Computer programming in college, and I work at our college's computer services help desk, where I help admin the network as one of my many tasks.
I had never heard the acronym CCNA before. I personally was looking into getting certified, but I am too busy with my course, and after this year I will be both (if i dont slack off to much :( ) A+ and MCSE certified.
But IMO, the Cisco networking stuff is great, and if I had the chance I would be all over it.

I have a few CCNA books I have ben looking over. I will eventually want to go in and test for it. I almost have my MCSE finished, I just need to go in and take my NetEss test, and the Enterprise test, and I will be finished.

Im in semester 1 of the CCNA course. It's a 2 year course at y high school, and you're right it is really good stuff they have in their. This summer Im going to to a local college to get my A+ cetifivation. Then after I get out of high school Im getting a bachelors of science in computer and electronic engineering anf going for my CCNE(cisco certified networking engineer), which if takin by years for each level, will take 6 years to complete.

One of my good friends has CCNA books and has gone in for testing twice but failed by one....it's a tough test. But he, too, took courses in high school and was recruited by a company with other class mates. He started as an intern and is now in a management position. (All in 2 years). He's only 21 and is making 3 times what I am....damn I wish they had cool stuff like that offered when I was in high school :( But I graduated in '92 and that's when computers were just barely getting into the classrooms.

but it's good money from what i hear...... i was thinkin about computers, but after takin the course last year in high school, i hate computers.... stupid circuits and logic gates bullshit, i can't stand it
plus i got bad marks in it.... so business here i come :D

CCNA, more valueable than paper MCSEs.

That may be so, but I can study, be tested and complete an MCSE long before you can study and test for CCNA.
Im not putting down the CCNA,its great, but it takes quite a while, and as G$ posted, its very diffucult.

I know that. That's why I said paper MCSE. These are so freaking easy to get that MCSEs are like a dime a dozen now. This is bad cuz supply is greater than demand so the value of (and therefore average salary for) MCSEs will decrease.

Of course not. :D I talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. I've never tried to take it--time and money is a big factor. College and work takes alot of my time. Actually...my work place can actually pay for my MCSE classes if I took them through the company. Anyways, from what I've seen, industry insiders know that MCSEs are being devalued because it's too easy to become a paper MCSE. The hard part about the test is not being a Windows sys admin, but working the network side.

Well, time should not matter if it is so easy. :)

I have an A in the class. It's easy to me, all I do is listen in class and no studying.
