Fuel leak at sending unit gasket

Replaced fuel pump which is fine now, but installed new lock ring and gasket and getting fuel seepage around the sending unit area.

The gasket that came with the fuel pump seems kind of thin to provide a good seal here. Any ideas here are welcome ....

Replace the gasket with a new one ASAP. This is a significant fire danger and must be taken care of. When you replace the gasket make sure you don't catch it in the lock ring.

When I replaced fuel pump on my son's escort, I recall having to buy a lock ring and gasket kit from local parts store, but I don't remember why. May have simply needed new gasket, or needed better size. Also, coating the gasket with Vaseline had been effective in eliminating leaks at fuel pump.

Plus 1 ... and make sure you have the gasket on the correct side of the fuel pump flange.
