What spark plug should I put in ...I always used Iridiums but see a bulletin about GM recommending double platinums? I have 180,000 on my truck and Iridiums have done well...41-110? Why now would they recommend platinums, will my truck run better....What are your thoughts....

I had the plats in my 2000 silverado and they could not take the high heat. the small plat wires would fall off. so I installed the GM recommended iridium plugs and after 20,000 miles they looked new. no heat damage. now 150,000mi on vehicle.
iridium can operate at much higher temps. I would ask GM why they want you to use a different plug.

Take a look at this link/bulletin from GM...I am going to stick with the iridiums but am curious why they are changing...even on websites like autozone/advanced auto they dont even list iridiums for my truck, only platinums!

many with older vehicles will not want to pay for these expensive iridium plugs . this states this is being done to remain competitive with other plug makers.
now when you install these iridium plugs that is it for some 180,000 miles and they still looked good. these plugs should last no problem for 100,000 plus miles.
now explain how are they gonna make any money if some get 180,000 miles out of them ..in addition to that , so the engine burns up converters plugs them up , GM says good , now I can screw them when they buy a replacement vehicle.
next thing GM will put out is older vehicles also should use dexron III the defective tranny fluid that turns into acid instead of the approved new dexron VI.
GM wants these vehicles to die and die soon .. how is GM gonna pay for the 2 billion on all the lawsuits and the federal fines ..total est will be 3 billion dollars.
never ever go back to plats in these engines too hot for this metal.
update on the lawsuits and fines for GM 10 Billion dollars now !
