What is the torque supposed to be on my 98 camry 4cly valve cover nuts-4 of them and are 30 mm.?Ive heard some say its 33 and others 17.It has about 175k on it and a small leak at gasket from nut being a little loose.
If i decide to replace gasket is there anything inside i may want to check when cover is off?
Any info is appreciated

Torque is 17 ft-lbs (204 in-lbs). Tighten from the inside out in 70 in-lb increments. Check the torque again after a week or two of driving. The reason for the confusion is that some manuals have the 33 ft-lb number as a misprint. I don't know where they get that number, but it will crack your head cover as others on this forum have found out.

Check the PCV valve while you have the head cover off. Also, be sure and clean off all form-a-gasket still attached to the head or cover, and all gasket surfaces in general.
