Laser Overheating

I have a 1990 Plymouth Laser, 1.8L, that continues to spill coolant by overflowing the coolant recovery tank. I replaced the electric fan motor since that was definitely not working, upper and lower radiator hoses, and installed a TEE flush kit. Backflushed the system.

Symptoms: Upper radiator hose is hot to touch so I know the thermostat is working. The radiator cap had quite bit of grit on it and I cleaned it up and returned it to operation. The water temperature guage indicates normal engine water temp after driving for 10 miles. When I shut off the vehicle, the coolant recovery tank begins filling up and overflows.

How do I tell if the water pump is the suspect?
How do I tell if the electric fan is working and at what temp should it kick on.

are you sure the fan is operating? That is usually a sign that the fan isnt cooling it off. check the connections (electrical) for the fan, and make sure that it turns on and off.

I agree with the fan idea. Turn on your AC...pop the hood, and make sure at least 1 fan is running at that point. I'm not sure what temp they kick in at on a 1.8, though.
