We were looking at Tahoe or Yukons and a lot of them we are looking at around 2003 and up have lots of miles. When the mileage gets up to 100,000 and up what kind of stuff needs to be watched for and replacing parts?

depends on the area used . rust belt you get into brake lines/fuel lines/rotors/hubs/tie rods.
on all 2003-4 dash indicator motors.defective parts ..
fuel pump/regulator/ fuel tank support pipe.[rusted out ]
200,000 miles is what most get if it was properly cared for with little upkeep cost.
2007 on up is not what I would recommend GM was in the bankruptcy era. so they did cut back on quality and up to 2013 it appears to still effect these newer vehicles.

Good to know. Not sure what we wanna do right now. We have an 08 Chevy Uplander, we keep getting service traction and stability control, the tire gauges keep going off. The rear wiper doesnt work anymore. I think the tranny may be going. When its cold it doesnt seem like it wants to downshift right away when i leave a stop sign. It has 128,000 miles just seems like a lot wrong. We want something a little bigger and have been looking to the Suburban or Yukon XL. Oh yeah and we are in Wisconsin. So lots of salt.

I am quite familiar with Wisconsin . you will need a 4WD vehicle to handle the winter driving. these newer GM vehicles as you have now are a big problem. I myself have the 2000 silverado LT 4X4 ext cab . this has 150,000 on it , went down to FLA. this winter with it..no problems 18 MPG..
I was looking to get a new vehicle since I have saved over the 14 yrs [have cash] , and was hoping GM would get its sh*t together so I could replace it....NOT gonna happen as the forums continue to report GM not working with owners with the engine defects. many gave up on GM and got Fords ..I guess Ford has their issues as well with other components.
best thing to do is check around all the forums do a lot of reading , consider all the manufactures for what is best to satisfy your needs.
many that got the 2007 and newer that had the old GM vehicles stated they should have never got rid of the old vehicle.. you got over 120,000 miles you are lucky.
GM is designing these vehicles to fail @100,000 mi / 7 years old. that is why everything is falling apart..the part prices are jacked up to make you buy a new vehicle.

Yeah I am the kind of person that tries to do what I can on my own. Some of these new vehicles make so you can't even work on them. I wouldn't mind buying and older Suburban like mid to late 90's but my wife doesn't like those. So we are just checking into things.

I was not implying that you look for a 1990's vehicle. that then would be part issues too old/hard to find .. any NBS 1999-2006 vehicles are still made good ...2007 was the year GM made very poor quality . then the bankruptcy etc,,,.
