Buying another GTP !!

Hey everyone, it has been a while since Ive been on here. A few years back I traded in my 97 GTP for a 2011 Subaru Legacy, and have missed the GTP every day since then. However, I just found a 2000 GTP Daytona with 4k miles on it for sale. That might be the lowest mileage on any Grand Prix in the country... Anyway, I am going to check it out, and maybe buy it, tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to pay attention to on a car that has only done 300 miles a year? I know the usual rust spots, but I dont think those should be a problem. I am worried about rotted rubber or bad seals. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well im not really sure if anyone cares, considering nobody replied, but I did end up buying it. The car is spotless and still smells new. The engine is clean enough to eat off of and runs way smoother than my old one ever did. So far I am very happy with it.

Not much you can say....basically looks for leaks/potential seal problems......change/flush the coolant.....same with transmission fluid/filter.....

4K miles? Gotta love it.......pay more than 7-8K?

ya, i did. but GTP's with 60-80k miles and in decent shape have been selling for 6000-7000, so I felt the price was justified. Plus, according to KBB, the price difference for the car i bought with 4k miles and if it had 80k was only like 500 dollars, which is a load of shit. It's essentially a cheap brand new car. I dont think that there any actual new cars on the market cheaper than what I paid for it.

I would have been all over that deal. Last year, I paid $7k for a 98 GTP sedan with sunroof. Seems high, but I wasn't finding very few GTPs with sunroof within 100 miles, so I took it. Unfortunately, the supercharger started making a terrible rattling that wasn't the coupler, so I replaced with a ZZP rebuild over the winter. Only other concern is fuel economy is 20% lower than my 99 GTP even though that has 197k. Going to investigate how to improve that.

Congrats on your excellent purchase and welcome back to the forum, which I hope to remain active for many more years.
