90 degree pipe removal/replacement?

Hello! A coolant leak started yesterday from the 90 degree angled pipe that directs coolant down into the 4.2 Litre Engine in my 2001 F150XL. Discovered that the pipe is rusted out to the point it needs to be replaced. Is this a part I can order, or do I have to improvise with something to fix this. It's located in on top of engine just in front of the engine intake manifold along side the Coolant temperature sending unit connector. Thanks!:banghead:

Regular parts stores won't have the actual part. But they usually have different plastic fittings that could be used instead. Ford dealer might have it on their shelf and definitely can get it if they don't, but prepare for the heart attack when they tell you their price. You could try a hardware store to see if they have something similar. I always go to the pick it yourself type of junkyard if none of the above will work or are too expensive. It is last on my list only because the nearest one is a half hour drive away from me.

Yes! I was talking to a gent in the parts department about it at our local dealership here and he is going to order it for me, but he couldn't tell me if it snapped in place, or if it had threads on it to screw in place on the front top of the engine. The price he quoted was $34 ($38.42 Taxes in ). I'm trying to remove it myself so I can put a new one in. Any advice is appreciated! It's going to be this coming Tuesday, or Wednesday before I get the part.

p.s. The standard copper water lines seem to be the same diameter, or very close to it.

Tapped it in place and put some JB Weld around it. So far haven't had any problems with it since. None of the gaskets were damaged, so I simply cleaned them up and put a very light coating of oil on them before I torqued the manifold heads down.
