AF thoughts from a newbie

This forum topic asks for some feedback, so here goes.
You will see from my profile that I am still a newbie, so these thoughts are based on initial impressions.
Some signatures included with posts (pictures and/or text) are too big, and often make following a thread tiresome.
Some posts become a little too personal, and is not good etiquette. Nor does it make for pleasant reading for anyone else.
Some posts are irrelevant to the topic being discussed. Following some threads, it often feels like you are picking up posts that feel like they belong in a chatroom.
Threads often get hijacked/sidetracked. This goes back to keeping posts relevant to the topic being discussed.
There are probably a few other things I could add, but I think that is enough to be going on with.

You are right that those things happen. However, not to condone it, but I've been part of boards for many years now and most of them have the same issues. Short of the mods turning into fascists there isn't much that can be done. Its up to the board users and more often then not there are a smattering of newbies who have no idea what to do. There are people who are one step from being banned. There are some that are there just to up their post count. And then once you wade through those, you might find something useful/informative.
I think its worth going through the extra garbage for the good stuff that can be found. You'll learn what names to skip past in the posts and which ones to be sure to read.

Agreed on all counts. Like Yogs said, it comes with the territory, but our mods do roam around any try to keep/restore order in wildly off-topic threads.
Individuals with large signatures are often asked to reduce them. Just FYI, if the sigs are a major problem for you, you can turn off viewing them in yout user options.
