Generous Uncle has told my son he is getting Uncle's 1983 GT rag top when he is 16. The car has been garaged but not climate controlled for 3+ years.
Coming out of this situation, what would the experts at AF say needs to be done to bring this thing back to life? Any special engine treatments or must-dos?

It suffered a flash fire when last driven (right there in the garage) damage looks to be pretty superficial. Obviously that will be checked out first, but with regard to getting all those parts moving again what needs to be done?
Let's hear it...

first i would change all fluids, filters, make sure no mice have gotten into it, the top may need replacing look for wear cracks (they only have a 10yr life span). i bought a 99 cobra car in the summer and it looked good but as soon as it started to rain i found holes in my roof that i wasn't expecting. just pretty much check all mechanical brakes, exhaust.etc. maybe make your son do the maintenance with you so he will learn how to do the simple things
