I was looking on ebay and i found some but they only have years 93-96 then 2000+. The 93-96 have the analog odometer and the 2000+ have the digital. i have the 97 and i have the digital. i was lookin at my stock gauges and everything looks the same except the styling of the numbers (different shape like a diff font). would the 2000+ gauges fit in my 97 firebird??

i wish i could help. i know how you feel. I'll try asking around. My guess is wont fit. I doubt it would fit because in 1998 Firebirds and Camaros had some changes done to them in the inside. I don't want to tell you wrong or anything, but i'm affraid they will not work. You could get them and try if they don't work you can send them back.

if yours is a V6 http://www.custolight.com/id21.html
the description on procarparts says 93-97
http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=PON-93FBD110-SILREV
Pontiac didn't make major changes between 96 and 97. The 93-96 should be the same as the 97 anyways and procarparts is good about returns, just as long as you try it out the day you get it. If you have any problems, ask to talk to Leo there, he's very helpful (do not talk to Daren)

there was a differnece. The 96 had the rolling number odometer and the 97 had the digital odometer thats where i run into the problem.

mine (i know its a different year) just had a square hole where the odo shows thru. the guages just lay over the stocks and has cutouts where the airbag and check guages lights are. all i had to do is take off the bezel and lay the plastic sheet over the old guages, using the same needles and everything. is the hole for the odo in the same place as yours? its worth a shot...

how do u get over the needles, how does it stay in place is it hard to wire up?

theres a hole where the center of the needle goes and you just turn them all to the left and thread the needle through, just don't break them. You can glue it down but the bexel held mine right in place. As or wiring, you screw the switch in somewhere (I put it in under the trunk popper where the screws are that hold the dash up) and a wire goes to your fuse box. Just upgrade the voltage of the fuse so you dont blow it (if you take out a 15, put in a 25). Very easy. The hardest part was finding the little spring-loaded trip reset knob that sprung out when I took the dash apart! They're not stickers or anything either, its thick enough plastic that you can't see the stock red lights (that you dont have to disconnect) only the blue.
come check out www.pontiacfirebird.com and ask some people in those forums, too, they're awfully smart!

thanks. How long did it take you to install them
could u just wire it to the headlight fuse and turn down the brightness?

seriously, it took like 20 minutes! i took a second to maneuver the whole gauge pod thing over the steering wheel but other that that, it was easy.
if i remember correctly, the headlight fuse in my car is in the engine compartment so it was easier to wire it to one of the fuses in the box in the side of the dash. I got the silver reverse glow ones and it has a dimmer knob (that I screwed into the bottom of the dash) and a green/ blue switch
i think theyre like 20 bucks now and that one does say 97 in the description so you could always return them if they dont work
i wouldnt get the stickers, though, the ones that you print or whatever...

i was looking at the pics of the gauges and the 2000+ gauges all match up except the high beam light is lower on the 97 than the 2000. There is no service vehicle light in the 97. I dont think it will work.

I'll talk to the vendors we use for our shop and see if they have any or can make some.

the 96 has alot differences. high beam, low trac, abs all in different places. 2000 up has everything the same except the high beam is lower in the 97 and there is no service vehicle below the high beam. there is the servive engine soon in the top right like all the others

could u take a pic installed
how did u take off the plastic piece?? what about those black pointed things that the needles rest on. i think i might try the 2000+ everything looks to match up except the high beam.

these guys just have overlays:
http://www.macewenmotorsports.com/overlay-kits-instrument-cluster-1993-2002-firebird.html
its kinda what mine look like, except the odo is digital.... the picture here is probably your year. I dont think the sticker overlay kind are worth $100 but they do say they fit 97s. I'll get my digital camera out and take some pictures.
If Im not mistaken the needle rests are part of the bezel and that just snaps in over the gauges
Lower your steering wheel all the way and take of the part of the dash that goes over the clear plastic. then the entire instrument cluster comes out in one piece because it doesn't have wires, it just clicks in and out. once you get that out, you can take the plastic off by unsnapping the tabs on the sides. (You can do this without taking the whole thing out, but its more difficult)

the ones from procar parts are they sticker or plastic. I dont like the ones that are 100 because at night they are still red. I like the reverse style

they are plastic, not cheapy stickers. If they line up in your car, you will love them
i like the blue myself and soon I will replace all the bulbs in the dash to blue, thats why I ordered these ones.

well i looked at the ones for the 2000 and everything matches up except the high beam. only thing im worried about if the actual shape of the gauges are off. do u think as logn as i have the digital odometer the actual shape of the stock gauges will be the same

this website says that the 97-02 are the same: http://www.lmperformance.com/585/2.html
I know you dont want overlays, just the point that I think they should be the same. (it shows the 93-96 just as an example but the description says that the product works for 97-02.
and this one also says that 97-02 is the same (overlays again, but you get the idea): http://www.dynoproauto.com/gauges770.htm
pretty sure theyd work...
