Well, today after I got back from my friends house I was just cruising around and I saw this sick yellow Integra SiR sitting at the lights. It looked like it had quite a few mods on it like a tanabe exhaust because i saw the tanabe logo on the tip of the exhaust, intake, blow off valve,(which you could hear), body kit, and lowered suspension and i'm pretty sure 17" rims.
So anyways i pulled up beside him and i hit the gas a bit to let him know i was there, so on green i squeeled away but i looked back and saw him casually drive away so i kinda followed beside him for a bit until we got to this long stretch of open 3 lane road, so then he started reving and on a green light we were both gone, it was neck and neck for a little bit, but then i heard this massive explosion sound and a huge "woosh" of air and he took off like mad. I honestly almost started crying not because i lost the race, but because of how amazing it sounded when it happened and how fast he took off when we were already going about 80 miles an hour.
Whatever he had in his car i wanted it, but i was so far behind after that i couldn't catch up for a while to ask him what he had so i just let him go.
Does anyone know of something that could make your car do this other than an obvious bottle of nos?

lol:smile:

Yeah wouldn't that be a Type-R ... ?

Oh and I thought Turbo's when they kicked in it wasn't till the max RPM that the B/v released? ... err unless they have a hybrid setup, then it wouldn't be as loud... I'm thinking Nos, though I very well could be wrong.

a turbo kicks in at 3000 rpm and the blow-off valve is connected to the intercooler piping and turbo is what......exhaust its working when the car recieving air which is .....all the time

oh yah, your right i am almost certain. But i saw a deckle on the back of the car that said "SiR" so it was probably a type R but for some reason the guy thought it would be cool to put a honda sticker deckle on it.

Unless there actually is an SiR Integra....?....i don't really know too much about tegs:mad:

the blowoffvalve will went presure when the throtle valve is closed and the air has nowere to go....when shifting for example.....

a turbo can spool up at very diferent rpms....depending on the turbo and load......a small turbo will spool up much faster but run out of steam at hight rpm while a big turbo will do the oposite......

also when going uphil or towing something the turbo will spool up due to the load on the engine and the resulting high volume of exaust......

also please stop calling nitrous NOS.....NOS is a brand....you'll get flamed if you keep calling it NOS.......refer to it as N2O or nitrous......

i am positive there is no such thing as an integra SiR. if it was a type R, this guy would not have put a sticker on there like that. the car was probably turbocharged (and was not pushing it until really late in the race). what kind of spoiler did this car have? did the guy have a sunroof? i am not going to ask about the 5-lug or anyother body-mods because they are ones you really have to look for. also, how can the car have an intake and a turbo? hmmm

is the integra a SiR in JDM form? or is it still a Type R in Japan?

It was probably just a ricer guys...You guys act like people badging there cars as things they're not is unusual. It's definately not. I see it almost daily.
My question for the thread-starter is what the heck was the explosion sound?? A backfire? Niether a turbo or nitrous makes an "explosion sound". Not on their own anyways. I guess they could both cause the car to backfire if it was tuned improperly, but other than that I'm at a loss as to how they can cause a big bang sound. Turbo's make a whistling/sucking/SPOOLING sound, while nitrous make no sound at all. The engine RPMs will increase at a quicker rate, which is noticeable if you're paying attention, but other than that there is no sound.

MV2
06-26-2003, 03:21 PM
I'm not sure at all what could have caused the explosion sound, thats what I was trying to find out by asking if anyone here knew what made a sound like that.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a backfire either, it didn't sound like a backfire and I think I would know cuz when one of my friends first bought his civic he did something horribly wrong to the engine and it backfired at low rpm's if you floored it.
It sounded crazy though, like it was meant to happen to give the car power or something because as soon as it happened his car took off.:bloated:

I know the guy y'all are talking about! HAha, this is crazy. his name is Chase, and it's a '97 yellow Integra Type-R. When I met him he had that same SiR decal (not DECKLE for whichever one of you idiots spelled it that way) on his car, and I asked him about it. He said he didn't want the TypeR badge b/c at one point someone tried to get to his engine in the middle of the night. They didn't get it, but they messed his car up pretty bad with a crowbar. So he decided it was a bad idea to advertise a B18C5. My only guess is that he wanted something cool to put on the back, so he chose the SiR badge.

I am trying to find his site right now, but not having any luck.

Oh yeah, I know exactly what made that sound, but I will let you "experts" discuss it for a while longer before I let the cat out of the bag.

I took a look at this badboy's car. They freakin shoved a tool between the headlamp and the headlamp housing and tried to pry a hole for something. i am going to assume that these weren't the brightest of thieves, yes, but that they were nonetheless trying to steal his engine. his car was parallel parked, so it would have been more than difficult to steal the whole freakin car.

I think I know what caused the explosion sound...
The guy was holding back during the beginning,
then when he thought it was time to pass you.
He stomps on the gas and floors it, *boom!* he takes off.
Maybe he had a big turbo that spools at high-rpms?
Maybe he has FI + N20.

yea i dont see any reason to pop the hood UNLESS they wanted to steal parts from his car, not the complete engine. that would just be idiotic. all you gotta do is get in the damn car....roll it away so you can't hear it start up then ....let me quot..."drive it like ya stole it" they probably wanted to steal the bolt ons on it or something. who knows wat goes on in a criminals mind....also
i dont know wat the "explosion" sound is. im sure we could figure it out if we heard it ourselves. try to download some racing vids and match it to wat you heard. there are PLENTY of vids out there u can compare it to. then u can tell us and we'll try to figure it out. plenty of knowledge on these forums
oh yea and about using NOS....does it really matter? NOS is an acronym for nitrous oxide system, and thats what it is. a nitrous oxide system. anyways watever. TO EACH HIS OWN. thats all i say. PEACE OUUUT!!!

EUREKA!!!!

I know the secret behind the Big Boom Mystery! The driver of the ITR/ SiR was trying to race, buy had terrible gas at the time. He couldn't fully depress the accelerator because he was slightly raising his right leg to let some out before his colon exploded. The pressure had built up so much due to the adrenaline rush of the race, that when he released the fart, it sounded like an EXPLOSION!:newburn:

Once the gasses were released, he was able to plant his right foot and mash the gas! (pedal that is) Off he goes and the myster is solved.

Compressed N20 is below freezing. Being so cold, it feeds in to the motor real dense...kinda how CAI helps because cold air is denser than warm air (lack of heat makes elements less volatile and more compressed). As it feeds into your cylinders, it also feeds the massive amount of oxygen that is a part of its chemical composition. This oxygen is then combined with more fuel than normal, thus alowing for more power than normal-aspiration would give. It is the fuel that ignites. Kind of like turbo in a bottle.

Again, nitrous oxide does NOT ignite.

Edit: For those of you that might bring up the obvious question: "why not just feed in compressed oxygen, period?"

Nitrous is a part of the natural atmosphere, it stabilizes oxygen. Oxygen, in a pure state, makes natural combustion happen so fast, it becomes an explosion.

If you feed pure oxygen into your car, all you'll have is a pretty fireworks show with your engine at the center of the beautiful sparks.

95civicman
06-29-2003, 01:14 AM
ok well i did not no that and i will never talk again i thought that the oxygen in the n20 compound would ignite since pure oxygen would ignite, thanks for the info oh genious one.
