Targa Top 350z Progress

well here is my little baby thats getting my attention at the moment, i love building these little things, gotta work on the interior soon, shouldnt take too long as im leaving it standard, well gonna have a nice 2 tone interior, here are the photos, still gotta do window trims etc but paint is still curing as its automotive paint, looks shiny tho, no clear coat on this one

and here is another one, i bought a tripod to take my photos with coz my digital camera has a 6 mega pixel resolution and can get unstable in my hands producing crap photos but i think these have come out ok

and another one for ya to see, i took about 200 photos of it, got all carried away, lol, does anyone wanna see the inprogress shots? i have everything from the first chop to the finished paint, give me 2 hrs tho coz i gotta go the gym now, and yes its the sas kit but without the front bumper:bigthumb:

The only thing I really disagree with is PLEASE change those rims?!

i would change the rims but i have had on order 7 sets of 19" rims from hlj and was paying on paypal, but 4 weeks on and i still havent had one email from then, if there is anyone in the uk with rims they wanna sell i will give you a very very good price for them. but at the moment its gonna sit on these rims until i get more.

havent made a start on the interior yet, sorry, but here are some pics from before the paint went on, there were large gaps in the pannel lines, so i blended them all in

i like the smoothed out rear end look.

took about a day for the putty to dry completely, because of the depth, but i think it looks good

what is the interior scheme going to be?

the colour is peugeot blaze yellow, i didnt have any primer so i used peugeot diamond white paint straight on, then used the blaze yellow, all in all 6 coats were applied, not too bad tho seeing as there is no clear coat and no polishing.
still deciding about the interior, i know i want it two tone, if i can get a tan colout i may use that, or black and blue? or maybe a two tone red scheme for the seats, and suggestions?

i reccomend doing the interior either all black or black and tan/brown, or if you can a color similar to your ext4eroir. please dont use blue it would clash way too much with that beautiful paint color.

i think i agree with not using the blue, is there a way of mixing paints to create tan, i dont have any brown, i do have flat white tho as a base???? i think a black and tan would be cool:bigthumb:

could everyone with a 350z please post pics of just their interiors for me, so i can get an idea of what i need to consider, cheers everyone

i suggest buying a small bottle of testors tan paint it works wonders

i sould have some photos posted tonight as i found a realy nice colour, like a burnt amber, quite similar to the body colour, its a tamiya, i think its ts34, but dont quote me on that, it looks quite slick, am leaving the centre of the seats black, have painted the gear gator, hand brake and a few other things in it to co-ordinate the colours.

also built up the brakes and the interior last night so am that little bit closer to finishing this puppy:bigthumb:

am hoping so, trying to keep it simple and stylish, want the exterior to be the main attraction, cant have the interior stealing its thunder, gonna put all the glass in it today as well, do you think i should tint it? the guy who did my lexus gave me a load of 80% tint film, nice and dark, but not too dark?

i saw on the soft top convertible that he had a cd in the dash, that so cool, how can i make it? any ideas. washers are too thick.:bigthumb:

go to your local fabric/hobby shop (like a Micheals, etc.), and get some Sequence (sp?). They look like little CD's, and are the perfect size to use in 1/24 cars.

the way i made the CD stick out of my dashboard is quite easy.
take some styrene plastic, and cut it using hobby sissors to a half a circle..and then glue it in...bingo..u got a cd sticking out of the dash

ok, its 12.10am and i gotta be up at 5.30 but i been working on my 350z, the screen is painted but i am leaving it to dry so i can put the tint film on the rear windows on tuesday, gonna be fun i think.

other than that i took some crappy photos right now for you guys, sorry about the quality but im tired, gonna get it outside for the final photos. soon i hope.

also i wont be able to finish the 350z tomorrow because i have a ball i have to go to for work, yay, i wish i didnt have to go but my director has advised me it will help my career, well there ya go, models dont grow on trees do they.

hope u like them, its nearly finnished, im re enstating project nemisis as we speak!!!!! so be on the look out for that soon!

when i was fitting the light clusters on this kit i had a few fitment problems where it met up with the sas parts, has anyone else had these, mine required trimming the lenses on both the front and the rear. it was probably just my kit tho, as i have never had any trouble with the kits before :bigthumb:

ok well i have just done the tinting film on the rear quater windows and rear window, looks great, but do you think i should tint the side windows?????????????????? it looks so good, all glossy and real looking (well it is real tinting film!)

well i just tinted the rear window and rear quarter windows, but should i tint the front side windows??????? it looks great at the moment, but i dont want to bugger it up by doing the wrong thing

how dark is the tint film?

its a 20% light transmission, not too dark but darker than a smoke

well personally if i was in your situation i wouldnt do it, just in case...

or wait for someone who does have an opinion

and another one, it was realy easy to apply, much better than trying to spray, and is cheap too, one roll for £20 can do about 50 or more models!!!!!!!!! or blag a free bit like i did
