C5 Corvette from Revell. Is it good? I mean nice detail, don't care about flash or mold lines. Looking into starting a collection of them to go with some ZR1s and C4s. Anyone who has had or has one could you let me in please? cheers! :bigthumb:

I`ve had several of them, and I think the detail is great. The proportions look good as well. Revell has gotten the LS1 engine down perfectly in my opinion. As far as Revell`s Corvette kits *in recent years*, I think they all have been very accurate with a high level of detail, and are a notch above most of their other subjects for some reason. I really like their `67 kits especially.

I haven't built the street version C5.
But I've completed 2 C5-Rs in different paint schemes.

The fit was good, the detail was good.
I've never built the same car more than once. It just bores me.
But I've picked up 4 more kits of the C5-R kits since completing the first 2.

I wish they'd quit changing the paint schemes.

I cant imagine the street version would be much different than the race car in terms of quality. I'd love to see a completed ZO6 on here.

Hope this helps.

Nice models CADguy! :bigthumb: I really like the one on the left!
So taking all of the words on the C5 it is a very good kit from Revell? Ok, I'll try pick some up, hawk I'm doing a Revell Monogram 67 Stingray sooner then later, thats the model that inspired me to get more Corvettes.

One side note on the Revell ZO6 kit. It has an inaccurate transmission, the ZO6 was based on the Revell '99 Hardtop kit and therefore had the Hardtop's automatic transmission. In order to have an accurate ZO6, you must track down the '97 Corvette Coupe kit and splice its six-speed transaxle into place.

Luckily, the console is correct.

I noticed the pedals on the C-5 kits are wrong (someone pointed out it has no clutch even tho its a 6-speed) Also, i've had some fitting problems (fitting the interior and chassis into the shell.. )

The rims are nice..... But what else is wrong with the kit?

CADguy, nice C5 racers there, I may have to pick one up the next time I go to the shop.....
