Finished: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider (Warning large pics)

I finished the 360 Spider today. It's painted in Cobra Colors authentic Ferrari Blu Tour De France, coated in Cobra Colors clear. I highly recommend them, they were a joy to use. www.cobracolors.com however they aren't selling anything at the moment.

For the interior I flocked it with black flocking, was my first time so it wasn't entirely even, I'll learn next time. Used Tamiya Desert Yellow (XF-59 I think) instead of the tan called out by the instructions. Added seatbelt catches and seatbelts.

Painted the engine according to the reference pictures I have gathered, there were several things that were incorrect, I forget which ones though. Dechromed the wheels and sprayed them with a more realistic TS-30 and accentuated the bolts with chrome paint. Sprayed the soft top with XF-8 flat blue. Not much else, enjoy.

Very classy! Nice work you did on a very enjoyable kit! Did you notice the air intake filter boxes/tubes are silver/alum. on the Spider's? Or did you just choose black, a curiosity question, not a critique?

Argh! I did not know, all my reference pics for the engine were from the Modena except for like two, I honestly thought it was supposed to be black and Tamiya had goofed.

Silly me, should have known better :bloated:

Thanks for the kind words everyone! :)

Thanks! Flocking is a technique to create realistic carpeting, check out Alex's tutorial http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/flocking.htm

Thanks for the comments so far everyone I really appreciate it :)

I love your model, nice colour, execution. But the thing catching my eye was the detail on the softtop, how have you achieved that ?

Olivier:smile:

First off, TireGiant: Well the back part of the softtop isn't completely flush with the car, that would be the *only* fitment problem I guess on the entire car. It's a flawless kit

bigfrit - It's just plain XF-8, sprayed on wetly with an airbrush and allowed to dry. Nothing really special...

Just joined AF! Started rootin' around and here I stumble onto this great pics. Very nicely done, superb finish, great color combination, and the photos display it all well. I'm working on an Enzo in the same color right now.

Thanks for the mention, Dagger!

Hi Leon, welcome to AF. Don't want to sound to heavy, 'cause you are new here, as well as a great asset to have. But reviving old threads is something we try and discourage. This instance being a case in point since Daggerlee no longer posts here (which is a shame in itself).
