moving my battery to the trunk

Yes i was woundering if anyone knows how to move the battery from engine compartment to the trunk what will i need and how hard is it.:dogpile: : :bigthumb:

Without a doubt it would be very difficult and probably not worth your time. If you do, remember the negitive terminal must be grounded to the chasis.

why do we want to do this ?

I could guess of atleast two reasons to move the battery, 1.) to make more room in the engine compartement for something more usefull and 2.) to increase theft protection.
Also you can _lock_ the trunk.

What I would be most conserned with is not to risk getting battery acid in places I don't want, but an acidproof battery-box of some sort securely bolted in place in the trunk would do the job, and for power distribution you can allways buy power-cable per ft. in stores dealing with car audio equipment.

Your battery has to vent, buy a BMW battery with a venting system. You need heavy duty wires to extend the wires- 0/1 gauge. You need something to hold the battery int he trunk so it wont move, you sure you want to do it? Lots of work.

you don't have to run 0/1 guage wire, are you nuts? you can get by easily enough with 2 guage, just be sure you run a good solid wire from your alternator to the battery in the trunk, and back out to the inginiton system, and A/C. distribution blocks come in handy here. I would suggest a nice 4 port gold block... and a good sealed battery, like the new Optima yellow top. they have great power, and are recommended for high power sound systems. they are'nt cheap ($140), but they are the best out there...
