If you don't do the crank variation relearn procedure, the code will usually set.....to do that you need a GM scan tool....

I am sorry does that mean I have to have a dealer reset the code or will it reset on its own?
Thanks

Well, the code(P1336) will set if the relearn is not done......I don't know If other scan tools have the same ability as the GM Tech II scan tool, to do the relearn......
You can install the crank sensor....run the car....if the code comes....clear it......if it comes back again, then you need the relearn procedure....might check local garages to see if their scan tool can do this.......
Supposedly, if the relearn procedure is not done, it's "possible" you could exhibit hesitation, or set false misfire codes......

As Tech II stated, a relearn IS required after the sensor is replaced. It requires specific conditions be met (coolant temp above 158) then prompts are issued by the Tech2 scanner to properly complete the process.

Just a follow up, I changed out the sensor (easy) It was harder pulling the starter for access. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish.
Car started right up and did not have the relearn process done. Been running fine now for weeks.
